seriously, it's denny's. 3am-4am food with friends regardless of the shitty service it still rocks. i mean, do u really expect waitresses to pay AN extra amount of attention to a buncha ppl she may think are drunk? yeah i didn't think so. once i declare my soberness, since i am always sober, they're right on top of it...dennys 3am.....no complaints, it's denny's and when the pantry is too damn full and you really want to sit down cause you've been in heels all damn night, dennys is right down the street.

We'd been going to this Denny's regularly for the last couple of years now the food and service has been hit or miss depending on who is working. We've dealt with some pretty bad situations (such as waiting for the server to finish putting on her makeup a couple tables away to get a refill) but continued to frequent this location because it is so darn cheap and conveniently located. After today's visit I am sad to say that we are parting with this Denny's permanently. To start we were seated, our order was taken, we got our food and beverages pretty quickly then it went downhill from there. As someone who enjoys coffee with their breakfast the fact that our server never came to our table again after dropping off he food was a big problem. She kept getting sat more and more tables and never returned to where food was already delivered. I finally caught her after about 15 minutes and asked for another cup of coffee. My boyfriend and I finished our food and another 10 minutes went by so I went up to the register and informed the manager that our server had not been back in almost a half hour. I asked for a 'to go' coffee, a container and our check. They said no problem. Another 10 minutes went by and NOTHING!!!!! finally the server comes by pours my coffee with an attitude and asks if we wanted anything else and we said no because we were finished so she walked away. Again she has disappeared. We had to flag her down again to get our check, container and coffee. My boyfriend said, "I think you forgot about us." She said no. I then reminded her of my request for a coffee refill and she said well I had to brew another pot. Mind you, number one rule of customer service is follow up. If you had to brew a pot just tell me up front to set the expectations. Next stop was the register, yikes! When asked how everything's as we were honest with the cashier and even expressed our disappointment that when I went to the front to get our check they still didn't deliver and she said, well it wasn't me! She told us the manager instructed the person who was about to help me resolve our issues not to because it was someone's table and she needed to take care of that. Problem was that the manager maybe should've made sure that the server followed through. The cashier then told us that maybe the servers hormones were causing a problem and she didn't know what else to say. (Side note, she probably shouldn't be discussing her co-workers medical conditions with the customers.) The cashier instead of apologizing for the experience we had told us that by telling the server we didn't need anything else we shouldn't have expected the check since we said nothing else. What a joke! So I'm sorry dear Denny's but this is a break up with no possible chance of reconciliation. I will miss the $2, $4, $6 menu and the handful of hard working familiar faces that you have there.

I was the girl in the asian couple that K G. down there witnessed when everything went wrong! Absolutely the worst service I've ever had. First off, my group came back extremely hungry and tired after a long day at BeautyconLA. We decided to get dennys because it was just around the block, biggest mistake ever. When we came in, we got seated by the MANAGER and we never received the menus. After trying to chase down waiters which were barely any, we finally find someone at the front so we asked him for menus but he just said, "im leaving right now, ask them" and points to someone else. That's just extremely unprofessional and very lazy. Cousin got the menus and we sat down and ordered and my boyfriend and I ordered a steak. While everyone's order came, we waited for our steaks. I received mine first and let me tell you, the steak had blood ALL over the plate. I cut into it and it was completely rare. I sent it back and when my boyfriend got his steak, same results but when he cut into his steak, it looked like it just came out of the refrigerator in the market! The middle didn't touch any heat so it was completely rare and bloody. He sent his back and we ended up not eating. Our party went back to the car and my boyfriend and I told the manager our problems and he was very rude, telling us to follow the rules and wait for someone to seat us to get the menus but he was forgetting that HE WAS THE ONE, THE MANAGER, THAT SAT US! He didn't give his any menus and he's getting mad at US for not 'waiting'. He told us next time we should follow the rules but told him we will never come back again. Very rude management and kitchen needs work. The only thing that was on point was the servers which were very nice and understanding. we will never come back again, we left starving.

Do not come here unless you're desperate for a meal at 12am or something. First thing I noticed was that half the staff (on break or not, I don't know) was standing around talking. Second thing I noticed was the cashier slapping a waiter on the arm (in jest of course) and talking loudly about something. Third thing I noticed was the amount of trash on the floor. I was starving post-Anime Expo, so I shrugged and gave it a shot. Our waiter wrote down our order on some scrap receipt paper he grabbed from the cashier. He was nice enough, but he clearly didn't know what he was doing and had to keep asking the manager. Next, the food came and the first thing I saw was a raw mushroom. I confronted the waitress about this and she made a long-winded explanation about how it's sauteed and not fried. It was definitely not sauteed and most definitely raw. All in all a shit experience and I won't be coming back here.

Whatever servers these Yelpers had to cause low rated reviews aren't the servers we've had in our 4-5 trips here, that's for sizzle. Have had great service every time we've gone. Hey, it's a Denny's so I can't rate the lunch or dinner. With all the other great restaurants within a few blocks in DTLA, I'd never eat at a chain like this for dinner. But breakfast is another story whenever we feel like taking a short walk from our condo and taking in a morning and food in DTLA. I'm a creature of habit so I create my own omelet, usually spinach, tomato, swiss cheese with their homemade potatoes as opposed to those shredded bagged disasters that some of these chains carry. Omelet - 3 stars, potatoes - 4 stars, service - 4 stars. Parking in the underground garage is validated BTW.

To me, Denny's is for late-night eats and this one's cool because it's in Downtown. By then, meter parking is free. Food's just about as good as any other Denny's. Right now they have Fantastic Four specials and I had The Thing Burger, which is a burger with everything breakfast in it (bacon, egg, hash brown, cheddar) and their sauce. I had it with seasoned fries. I usually go for pancakes or a combo of some sort when I visit. Service was okay and it fit with the late-night crowd.
(3)Rob M.
I'm sitting in Denny's right now, and I'm quite impressed by the woman who is working here. She is hostess, waitress, bus person, cashier. . .heck, I wouldn't be surprised if she is jumping behind the grill and cooking as well. A lesser person would not be able to handle it, but she seems unphased. I ordered the "eggs in a basket." It's eggs cooked into something that looks like a hamburger bun, and is accompanied by hash browns that have bacon and cheese cooked into them. Probably not something I would order every day, but then again I rarely eat breakfast, so it's amazing that I ordered it at all. Now the question that remains, since this Denny's is a stone's throw from The Pantry: Denny's or the Pantry? I think they both have their place. The Pantry is often crowded, always overpriced, and the food is decent. Denny's is usually uncrowded, reasonably priced and the food is also decent. It really just depends on what you are in the mood for. . .old LA charm, or a quick reasonably priced breakfast. If I'm with friends, especially late night, and not in a hurry, I would definitely go to the Pantry. For a quick bite, or if I were traveling solo I would likely do Denny's. Live to Eat, Eat to Live!
(3)Joe J.
Worst place to come to, our waiter not sure what the hell she was doing , took more than 10 mins to take our orders , we eat and never comes back to check on us , then we see her appearing from the Main Street entering the Denny's like she's having personal issues , she offers us to water , the night already sucked coming to this Denny's , last time I come here .. Bad service all around
(1)Juan Carlos C.
Good customer service good attitude really helpfull service if you come ask for Daniel fast and efficient
(5)Victoria S.
Andy this one is for you. Last night my boyfriend my brother and myself went to this Denny's to get some late night breakfast. The lovely lady in jeans (I don't not recall your name I apologize) seated is very quickly and gave us our menus. However our waiter Andy was absolutely the worst I have ever had in the history of me ever having Denny's. He took very long to appear. When he did we made the order very simple on him so there wouldn't be any complications. He left and did not come back for 20 minuets. When he finally began bringing the food he had not given me utensils. So I asked him if he could please give me some. And he told me to wait and did not come back. When we tried to order drinks (which is the first thing a waiter has to ask you if you want!) he wouldn't even look our way or listen to us calling him. He completely ignored us. We had to ask another gentleman we saw passing if he could give us drinks then Andy came suddenly to "verify". Worst experience of my life, finally when we asked for the check, you are normally suppose to go to the cashier and pay, but he wanted us to give him our debit card then and there and basically was telling us that he wanted a tip. Excuse me? No as a waiter you don't ask for a tip and especially when you have a very rude manner in treating whom you are waiting. Andy if you read this you suck you are absolutely the meanest and rudest waiter ever.
(1)Curtis S.
I believe, they are closed. I'm waiting to 4:00AM open. I talked them complaint about think Internet told said, "24 hours open for Denny's". They don't care of me. They are not good.
(1)K G.
Restaurant Manager at Downtown Denny's Gabriel Romero was extremely rude to an Asian couple who was checking out with their credit card. He kept saying "next time next time you're here you need to do this and you need to do that you need to follow my rules." It appears that this Asian couple was with a group of people who sat down after being hosted in the dining area but the manager was miffed because he was trying to set the table at the same time. The couple said that the server was very graceful and good but that everything else was terrible. Manager Gabriel Romero just rolled his eyes and said nothing more and threw the credit card back at the people in disgust. Again he said "next time" then I interrupted and told the couple "you probably won't have a next time will you? There is always Yelp.
(1)Erica R.
I love Denny's but this Denny's is horrible! First of all, our server was so rude and I told her my sausage link was cold and she had told me that she just cooked them this morning and they're "fresh". Like I don't care if you cooked them this morning and they're "fresh" I said they're cold so you shouldn't even say anything and just bring me back some hot ones. Never coming here again.
(1)Krystal B.
The first time I came her the waiter was super nice! She attended is very well and she memorized our orders correctly. Then today I had a mean waiter who gave us a shitty table and had a mean face the whole time. It's overall a good place bug I just didn't like the way the waiter treated my friends and I.
(3)Tiffany N.
Our waitress Dana (I think, small little asian lady) was so, so nice. We had tickets to an event at LA Live & we were starving with a few hours to spare so we started walking around. Ended up at Denny's, haha. Walked in & was seated in the corner. We ordered so much food for 2 people, it was hilarious. Our waitress was really nice. She was really attentive & she actually hung around to talk to us for a bit. Super nice lady, reminds me of my aunt. Haha. Cool location, lots of tourist.
(4)Andy G.
I came into Dennys today 5/30/15 @ 4:15 am hungry and craving pancakes and the usual. Unfortunately my phone was about to die and their policy is that they will not charge people's phones for liability purposes. (Which I totally understand) yet my waiter Victor helped me out by letting me charge my phone on his own personal battery pack which was something he didn't have to do but insisted on. Victor was my life saver and the true oppitomy of hospitality. As a waiter my self I appreciate the small things and am great full of his amazing attitude and willingness to go above and beyond to my "usual" Dennys breakfast an enjoyable meal with great conversation too. I will be back to see Victor and recommend others to visit this awesome culinary service provider.
(5)Abby K.
This place is a nightmare. I went in to ask for validation even though I didn't eat there and they wouldn't do it!!!! I lied and said I ate there earlier and the woman started to interrogate me. "What was the waiter's name?" "What did she look like?" "What did you eat?" she even started to bring waitresses over for me to identify but I just left. She wouldn't even validate... It's not like they are making a commission off of the parking . JERKS!
(1)Jessica S.
Worst service EVER! The food was cold. Fingerprints on the plates. Staff was extremely rude and disrespectful. DO NOT EAT HERE!!
(1)Jin N.
Is this the only Denny's that is in the DT area? Nice location and convenient to stop by if you're trying to sober up after a night of drinking. NO Drinking and Driving people. Plus, it's PO PO CENTRAL out there in DT LA. As for the service. I don't know how they can be below average. IT was slow, and there was minimal interaction. Considering that only 4 tables were occupied, and there really wasn't much for the waiter to be serving, I don't know why we were never offered more water, or asked if ther was anything else needed. And the nachos. It's been 5 or more years since i've had nachos from Denny's, and I don't remember it being as mediocre as it was on this night. The chicken tenders were okay. I got sick soon after... -_-'
(2)Joi R.
If I could give this location negative stars, I would. This has to be the absolute worst Dennys I've ever been to in my life. If you're craving Dennys & you're near this one, travel further to go to another Dennys. This Dennys in Downtown isn't what you would expect. Their service, horrific. You will end up sitting yourself for waiting so long. After you wait to sit yourself, prepare to wait a stupid amount of time just to put in your drinks. I've never seen a smile on any employees face or ask how was our food/experience was. Last night (after 2a), there was no one in the restaurant (if you want to call it that), & no one came to sit us, so we kindly sat ourselves. The manager (yes, manager), came with an attitude (like he had to serve a full restaurant himself), 15 mins later & ask what do we want.. not order. We all stayed pleasant & all ordered. Took our food 25 mins to come out the kitchen. (We're still the only guest) After we ate, took another 15 mins to pay. Who do we complain to @ the present time on the manager?!?!? Ridiculous. Next morning, myself & my family have been sick. Idk what they did, but we've all experienced not so fun actions at the cost of eating food with terrible service. NEVER, I repeat, NEVER eat here again.. I've had problems with this place since I've came here.. this was my last time, ever, eating at this location. I hope I saved a soul out there who wants to eat here.. Thanks for listening
(1)Viviana G.
Worst service ever! I love going to Denny's so I decided to look for one here in LA because I was hungry.. Their service was so bad I lost my appetite. Get it together
(1)Mia Q.
Great food but horrible service. We waited a long time for our waitress to come back and take our order. We could hear them speaking in Spanish to each other and laughing. When she finally came back with a smirk on her face, she said "Are you ready NOW?" Yeah like 15 mins ago!!!
(1)Angie V.
I would put 1/2 a star, but I can't. They had horrible customer service, the server never even checked up on us, & some were talking shit in Spanish (not knowing I'm Mexican & speak Spanish). If you're in LA, go to another Denny's cuz fast food is better than this shit
(1)Christin V.
I work at target and I have been ordering to go orders and they always quick and the food is always hot and ready on time
(5)JoJo M.
Service was fine at this Denny's. Quality of meal was not. Breakfast came out WAY too fast. Jeez, take some pride in the food that you are fixing for customers! It was not busy. Take your time, fix the food properly and go for the presentation a little. I know it's a Denny's, and people know what to expect. This did not meet a Denny's expectation. Management: do some quality control inspections once and awhile.
(1)Qux R.
If I could've given zero stars to this infestation and mockery of food service, I would've.
(1)Ana F.
This is the far most worst Denny`s i ever been the staff is so rude and worst at customer service. Especially Nidia . When i approach her about a concern she didn`t have a name tag didn`t even present to us until i said "can i speak to the manager" she said with a snoobi attitude "ohh I am the manager " me and my family have been customers for the past 17yrs.. so sad we the paying customer gets treated this way..
(1)Veronica P.
This was by far the WORST Denny's experience I've ever had. Let me start with the seating. It took 25 minutes for us (party of 4) to be seated even though we could clearly see that there was three booths and two tables open. Well when we finally sat down, our waiter was very rude and gave us no time to look over our menus because he was getting impatient. So we got our food and it was cold. The mozzarella sticks were not melted, the fries were undercooked, the bacon I got was halfway cooked, and we didn't get our glasses refilled at all. The other thing was that I ordered a pancakes short stack and then within a minute changed my mind and my waiter said that he was going to bring it because he didn't want to cancel it. Overall it was a horrible experience, the food was overpriced compared to other Denny's but that also might have had to do with the LA area. Anyways LONG story short, don't go to this diner at 1 AM or any other time.

Today they get a 0 if I could, but yelp is too nice not to include one. Today I called in an order. I specically asked for over meduim eggs and I got the step right before over easy. .1 mm of the outside was cooked while asll the inside was raw. What a way to screw up my breakfast as well as my day. To top it off, I called and spoke to the manager and all she could say is "Do you want to bring it in so we can re-cook it again?" instead of trying to replace there screw up. Although just accross the street, I'll never go back while this manager is still working there.

We just left this Denny's and the food wasn't bad considering I just asked for 2 pancakes with bananas on them. The service was not pleasant but not too horrible either we jut had to wait really long to pay and it was us n two other people in the whole restaurant. I'd go back
(3)Daniel J.
It's another Denny's, not only overall but in this very area. Menu is naturally the same, unhealthy goodness.. However i must say that the other nearby restaurant is somewhat better than this one. Staff here was not as nice, neither is the place itself. Still a decent spot though.
(3)Chaniece C.
Horrible service...they always mess up my order...waitress had an attitude problem, when I asked for the manager he walked past us at least 4 times before he came to our table. Oh and the food tastes bad.
(1)Polina T.
Cash only. Fine by me. 2-4-6-8 menu, which is love. Close to LA Live, Staples Center, Convention Center, so you don't have to drop tons of $$ eating food from them. We parked right by this place twice and came here on a Saturday morning. We were out in about 30-40 min, and our order was perfect. BF got the all you can eat pancakes while I went for the chicken wrap, which I do agree is a weird thing to get at Denny's, now that I think about it. No complaints on my end and I know we will be back next time there's an event waiting for us.
(4)Max A.
Worst Dennys food I've ever had. The eggs were solid, brown on the bottom, and tasted like rubber. Even the pancakes were over cooked, needed a knife to eat them even after they covered with butter and syrup.
(2)Mandy M.
My husband and I took the out kids to the fashion district for the day and decided to stop here to eat. First off it took forever to be seated. Then our waitress went to move the tables together and I was trying to move at the same time and she slammed the table into my legs and twisted my back. Then when it was time to pay the bill, they automatically took the tip out themselves. $12.95. Wtf. Needless to say we will not be returning to this place ever.
(1)Caesar G.
I walked in here with my boyfriend and since there was no one in front of the house we sat ourselves , after minutes of not being attended I got our menus. After they realized we were there (aside from only one more table) they took our order. The food was OK. But was really disappointed in their chicken noodle soup. It seems like they have watered it down quite a bit. We were left alone for around 20 min, no server ever came back to see if we needed something ( fomenting a waiter should always do). The waitress was very forgetful and was assisted by a waiter who was very nice. I gave them 1 star solely based on service and disappointing chicken noodle soup. I have eaten in other Dennys but I will avoid this one. I would recommend the Ihop near by.
(1)Vicky K.
I don't want to even give them a star. There service was beyond horrible we sat ourselves and took forever for the menu to come... the food was horrible and even it was time to pay she asked for tip???? Then as we're sitting here the Lady studied to clear the dishes hinting us to leave... DON'T COME HERE NOT WORTH IT.
(1)John G.
This place sucks. I came here during a convention. I guess I don't blame the night staff for giving us bad service because the community I come from is notorious for being cheap(i.e. not tipping), however, I still expect to at least be treated somewhat like a human. So we enter wearing costumes and stuff. The waitress seats us in an area comprised mainly of costumed folk. No biggy. No biggy at all, until I realize the heater is on. It's freaking summer and I'm wearing a costume. Lmao. Heater on during summer. Dennys, you so hipster. I instantly finished the water that was brought out. So the waitress brings out our menus and my friends and I decide upon grand slams. We also noticed the 2, 4, 6, 8 menu was not brought out with our menus, so when the waitress came back to take our orders we asked if she could bring one out. She had no reply. Instead, she just snapped her order book closed with a really noticeable sassy attitude. As she walked away, I asked her kindly if she could refill my glass of water. "Of course...." Lots, and lots of attitude. I literally did not see my refill until 40 minutes after I asked for it, seriously not exaggerating. The lady screwed up our orders. Friend 1: May you cook the bacon chewy? Her: wussat? Friend 1: Can you cook it lightly? I like it soft. Her: Kay. Eggs? Friend 1: Egg whites only, please. Her: Wut kindya dressin' yo wanna salad? Friend 2: Balsamic Vinaigrette please. Her: Huh? Friend 2: Balsamic vinegar. Her: Kaaay. Guess what. ROCK HARD BACON. RANCH ON THE SALAD. My friend's eggs also had yolk in them. She instantly left our table without asking if we needed anything else. I would have asked her for some hot sauce, but decided it'd be a vein attempt considering it seriously took 40 minutes to get my refill. Coincidentally, a family sat behind us who was of the same ethnicity as the waitress. They were not disregarded one bit. Refills brought out without them asking, waitress asked if they needed anything else when their food was brought out, and they were checked on frequently. She appeared at their table 7 times during the visit. She appeared at our table 2 times. Once to take our orders, and once to bring us the food. She didn't even appear at the table when she asked if we wanted our check; she just poked her head over the barrier and said "check?!". And here's the real kicker. When the check was brought out, the ink was faded on the right side. Pretty much all that could be seen was the total and the price of the items. Upon closer inspection, all the faded words hid that they charged us gratuity. Wat. Gratuity on a 3 person party? Lmao. We're not paying for service we didn't get. The manager ended up charging our card for the total with gratuity. When we brought up that we didn't want to pay it, he got hostile. Eventually, he gave us the difference back in cash, extended an open palm in front of our face, and said "YOU OWE US 15 CENTS!" We should have just walked out. But we gave him the 15 cents and left. I understand getting treated this way if the place was busy(Which it wasn't). We ate at Ihop the night before, and it was busier than this place. We still left a great tip, because the waiter there was a total bro. Lesson learned, never eat here during convention season. Dennys will try to inflict heat stroke upon you, and assume you won't tip.
(1)Debra P.
I asked for coffee as soon as I was seated. The waitress brought me coffee but no utensils or sugar for 15 minutes. I ordered pancakes which didnt have enough syrup. I asked the waitress for more syrup and after waiting another 15 minutes I decided to leave. ZERO STARS! Also, it wasn't that busy!
(1)Phil C.
It's Denny's. One of the original comfort food and hangover prevention services. Good menu variety with a few "healthy" choices... ok, healthy and denny's do not really mix, but i commend them for trying. :D When the wait is too long at The Pantry, this is a decent and familiar alternative a block away. This location is part of the LA Downtown scene, not the traditional stand alone restaurant you see in OC or other LA areas, but it's pure Denny's inside. Service was friendly and attentive even at 2:30am. Not too crowded when we went on a sat night, but you'll be among some downtown characters. Never a dull moment. I can see this place being busy during the lunch and early dinner crowd as it is in the middle of downtown.
(3)Jermaine A.
The service here isn't the best. A waitress I had two days in a row had an attitude problem. Other than that, food's good as usual for a Denny's.
(2)Ed S.
Best Denny's I've been to in a long time. It's conveniently accessible to the Metro station and shopping (City Target, Macy's Plaza), perfect to start off your early Saturday morning full of errands. The couple of times I've been here I haven't had to wait to be seated (absolutely no line!!). The cute hostess is very friendly and courteous, (she even gave my son tips on how to try to get the angry birds doll from their claw machine), and the waiter is very professional and fast. The food is good but just your standard Denny's/Diner type of american food, nothing special. My kid seems to love their children's menu though. I have no complaints about this place, and will definitely come back. P.S. I don't know why other people say they only take cash. I usually prefer going to places that accept credit cards and this place is no exception.
(4)Roland R.
Not so attractive staff but friendly, pleasant, and fast which I love! Have you ever noticed that at some fancy restaurants the hotter the waiter/waitress is the slower or unfriendlier they are? Hmmm....maybe it's just me. Anyways, Denny's is only good for a no-frills breakfast or if you're desperate for food late at night. Denny's downtown is open 24 hours so it can come in handy if you're in a bind. Just a warning, if you go late at night expect some rift rafts and hooligans. You can be lucky and have a boring dining experience or witness a spectacle...just prepare yourself. As for parking, there are parking lots around the area if you can't find a spot on the street. However Fig is usually empty late at night so parking is never an issue after 10pm.
(3)Nicole B.
This Denny's is okay. I came in around 5pm in the afternoon to meet with some of my classmates to discuss a group project that we had coming up. (TMI?) Everything was what you would expect from Denny's. A WARNING: They validate parking for the first 90mins ONLY($2). If you stay longer than 90minutes you have to pay the regular rate. I stayed for about 2hrs and paid $9.50 for parking...BUMMER! Their ranch was too disgusting.
(3)Vilma A.
Went there with coworkers for lunch. The waitress we got was funny. She brought everyone's meal except mine and asked if she could help with anything else. I said, "yes, I'm not sure if they forgot mine?" She looks at me and says, "oh yes you ordered the chicken thing! i'll check on that." I just laughed at the fact that she called it a "chicken thing."
(4)The U.
well, it's a dennys. But this is one of the cleaner dennys I've been to and the staff was polite and friendly. They are doing a good job so it should be noted.
(4)Leticia D.
This is sad to say the worst Denny's i have ever stopped and had food at. Okay we all know we should be able to at least get some decent breakfast at most of these chain food restaurants but when you can't even get eggs, ham and hash browns cooked right then something is really wrong. The location is terrible too, not to mention the service was lousy, never going back here again!
(2)Andrea M.
Not my usual choice but was enticed by their $2 menu lol it's been AWHILE :) What can I say; how do you mess up a cheese quesadilla??? I can't complain, for $2 you get sour cream & pico de gallo and they used real shredded cheese. Anywhere else it would've been $5 up.
(2)Jennifer F.
This Denny's is AWESOME for several reasons. 1. The best servers on the late night shift. They will accommodate you on take out or ordering in. 2. The Fit Fare Menu! If you don't love it, then just be fat. It's cool, I'm not a hater. 3. I'm here now & oh so satisfied
(5)Eric S.
Horrible customer service. No energy what so ever employees just hanging out in the back 1 out of 5. Never coming again .
(1)Duvel R.
Usually I love having lunch here. However, I came in today just to try their blueberry milk shake and was very disappointed. 1) I was standing the whole time I was there, because all their front waiting area was full of dust! It's not the first time, usually the tables are not that bad, but the person that goes around cleaning never cleans/wipes the seats down. I've seen her. 2) The blueberry shake was more like a smoothie, extremely watered down shake. It was sorta blue/purpleish in color but didn't really have a blueberry flavor to it. Also the guy at the counter wouldn't take my coupon I received via email, because he said I had to printed out. Very Disappointed. Not sure If I'll come back to this location.
(1)Lisa L.
This Denny s is more cleaner then other Dennys in the area. Waiters are nice and friendly. Sundays tent to be more full, mainly in the morning. I recommend thus Dennys because of the friendly service.
(3)Ifred M.
CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. This location has been closed for months "until further notice"

I know Denny's isn't exactly on anyone's favorites list but as of late, I've been craving it more and more. They have new items on their menus and food tastes a lot better (my fave=prime rib skillet). Service at this Denny's is decent. It's open 24 hours too. Compare this to the much talked about Original Pantry, Denny's is a lot better--and cheaper! I'd prefer to get this to-go though so I'm away from the sometimes weird patrons.
(4)Michelle H.
I normally go to one specific Denny's, but being that I was in LA and with friends, we couldn't pass up an opportunity to eat out. We were seated quickly and we all knew what we wanted to get. The food tasted great and our waiter was really kind. I, unfortunately, only gave this restaurant 3 stars because of the slightly rude cashier who was not happy by the fact that my friends and I wanted to split our receipts. Parking is also an additional $2-5 depending on where you parked.
(3)Margaret R.
The waitress let my friend and me order off the 55+ and over menu, which was a bit cheaper than the regular menu. That was nice as we are clearly not close to 55 years old. We both got the senior Belgian waffle dish, which came with one waffle, one bacon, one sausage and one egg. The bacon, sausage and egg were good, nothing impressive though. I was disappointed my the waffle...it tasted eggy and was soft / soggy. I like my waffles toasty!!! My friend said that the waffle was probably soggy because I ordered from the senior citizen menu. The explanation makes sense to me - easier to chew.

I rarely go to this Dennys, and here are the reasons why: I was in the men's room of this diner a few years ago, and here's what I noticed: One of the cooks was done by pooping, and he exited the stall. The cook rinsed off his hands with water--didn't use soap--then he ran his wet hands thru his oily hair, then he went back to work. This is what happened. A second time--this was a few months ago--the hostess wasn't at her station. Instead she was chatting on her cellphone outside. After a couple minutes of waiting for someone, I just left. A few days ago I went in for their all-you-can eat spaghetti meal. The served told me that they were out of spaghetti, and the worst part is that it was like 4 pm! (They were supposed to serve it til 11.)

So I usually go to other Denny's but my husband insisted to go to this one since we were close by. Any who when we go there the staff was rude and it looked like if they hated to be there. When we sat down the we didn't get waited after 15min of waiting. After we order and waited about 45min for our food, We asked the waiter for our check and we had to ask for the check three times we got the check and had to pay the parking because we took more than 2 hours, Yes u have to pay for parking.
(1)Patrick R.
Perfect Pit Stop at 10pm Love the 24 hours availability and the value menu $2 $4 $6 $8 Chicken wrap is a good snack at this hour of the evening, not to heavy and filling enough to do the job.
(3)Chang O.
2.5 stars. This is downtown, so expect a melange of characters from all walks of life. The restaurant itself does a pretty good job of living up (and down) its expectations as part of the chain/franchise. Nothing more, nothing less, although some of the other restaurants, particularly those in the 'burbs or at the side of interstates, may have a more freshened look and feel, save the truckers and other weary road warriors. The menu is standard, a good place to get some no-frills grub, particularly when nearby choices are not value-friendly or open. Service was adequate, pretty standard Denny's routines. Word of advise, though: build in some extra time. On a weekend mid-morning, the wait for a table was about 15 minutes, another 7 or 8 minutes for the waiter to take our order, then the food took about another 15- or 20-minutes to get to the table. At least he brought our drinks a bit earlier. It was all warm and fine, but it just too longer than one would expect, particularly if you're on a timeline and heading to an event down at the Staples or the Convention Center. Verdict: a no-brainer alternative, if you want a diner experience (let's make that, "a standard Denny's experience") and don't want to fuss with the Pantry's wait or the other high-priced venues. However, you get what you pay for, and be prepared to wait a bit. In terms of the time issues, "Meh. I've experienced better." In terms of the chow, it's "A-OK".
(3)Michelle Y.
So, we arrived in the midst of the "rush." Luckily our waiter was able to get our order and put it in before he had to hurry out due to a personal emergency. EVen with that happening mid-meal, the new replacement waiter was super attentive and apologetic for the fact his coworker had to leave because his wife was having their child. understandable and everyone in the restaurant was forgiving due to the circumstances. The food came out relatively quick considering it is a Denny's. notorious for bad service and greasy food. I ordered the veggie burger. They use Amy's vegetarian pattys and they're delicious! My bf ordered nachos (half ordeR) which turned out to be a pretty large order. And he also ordered the chicken inthe asian sauce. no clue what it was called but i tried a little of the sauce and it definitely has a kick. We had some time before we had to head down to LA Live so i wanted a little dessert. I ordered the pancake bite sundae and yummo. It's a deal at 2 bucks and you get a fudge covered diet ruining dessert. It has three delicious cinnamon sugar covered pancakes (they taste like churros) and a scoop of vanilla with fudge all over. All the food we ordered and the bill with tax was only 26 bucks. 26 bucks in this area will get you parking and a dollar to hand over to the bum at the corner. Oh and 90 minutes for 2bucks in the denny's parking lot.
(3)David L.
In an effort to spend less time sitting in my car in traffic on the 110 every day, I often leave very early to get into downtown. As a result, I often get to work an hour before my peers. Sometimes, when I need a quick bite, I swing in to this Denny's. There are often homeless and panhandlers outside of this spot, but it is easy enough to get into the place. Once inside, they offer many selections, and even will make your food to go. Service is generally lowsy here, but hey, this ain't Morton's or Roy, either. They've added the calories to the menu, so now you can see how unhealthy their choices are. As this place is in downtown LA, parking can be a challenge. I believe the parking garage next door validates for Denny's, though. I've only been here for breakfast. For lunch, I'd recommend some of the options a block north at 7th and Fig instead.
(3)Reyna G.
I like Denny's but my visit to this one in downtown was very disappointing. Denny's is a lot of times the go to spot to go to after the club. My friends and I came here after the club on a Saturday night. I've gone to Denny's during after-hours and I know that the wait can sometimes be a bit long due to the high volume of guest at that time. The waiting period at this Denny's was ridiculous though and they didn't even have a high volume of customers. They were way understaffed. The poor hostess that was running around finally took our orders because we complaint several times and I think there were only 2 waiters for the night. Most of the orders were delivered wrong. I ordered the Fit Slam that comes with your choice of hash browns or fruit. I didn't get either and the egg whites didn't come with Spinach. We waited for so long that we didn't want to make a big deal about the mistakes so we ate what we got and got the hell out of there. The staff seemed very stressed and I don't blame them. It's difficult to work with very limited resources. I've never spend over 2 hours at a Denny's. I will never come to this location again.
(1)Jasmine L.
Let's be honest, if you're going to Denny's then you're really not looking for a tasty meal - instead, it's either really late and nothing else is open OR you're in the mood for some greasy food and Denny's will certainly hit the spot. I came here for the fried cheese sandwich i saw advertised... it's the grilled cheese sandwich that includes 4 mozzarella sticks inside, served with french fries and marinara sauce. i got the food to go and dug in as soon as i hit my apartment door. the sandwich is actually really tasty and the french fries stayed crispy. sometimes, it takes a Denny's to hit the spot and this was certainly did :)
(3)smriti k.
A 24 hour supply for greasy unhealthy food. Actually, they have recently started the Senior meals where they seem to have some healthy options like Granola and fat free milk/yoghurt. But this is THE place who are exhausted studying and don't have energy to make some good food and if you could just walk across the street you could stuff yourself with some pancakes or burgers and then i don't guarantee you will feel satisfied, you might just feel disgusted with all the cheese. And also THE place after you spent all night partying hard and you need to get some breakfast then go to Denny's!! The 4 stars is honestly because it tastes good but if you are health conscious ,then this place is banned for you :) -Smriti

I wanted to take my son to The Pantry for breakfast but I am not patient enough to wait in a line of 50+ people so I headed to Denny's...it's breakfast so how bad can it be. I know what you are thinking but no...no bad experience other than I think I found out where all the kids are in Downtown...yep at Denny's. Also I don't know why I was so annoyed but some man was on his phone the entire time and his wife and toddler daughter were their as well as about 6 other people. He never put the phone down the entire time we were there. He actually had two phones going at once for a while....oh...back to the review. The server...I think her name was Lucy was very pleasant and prompt. We ordered the Gland Slams and the portions looked smaller than the Denny's in Redondo which is not a big deal for me but when you have an 18 year old college student boy who never eats unless it's on my dime, it's a big deal to him. No problem...I ordered bacon on my slam for him and gave him my hashbrowns.

Ended up at this place after a night of drinking with friends in the downtown area. We were all hungry so figured we would get some late night Denny's. Our party was seated shortly after arriving (place was completely empty around 2am except our group). From what it looked like, there was only one server working, and maybe two workers in the kitchen. Our food took an especially long time to come out to us, and when it did, it was horrendous. I ordered the everyday value slam, when it arrived my pancakes looked fine at first, but after eating several bites i realized the underneath portion was burnt. My bacon and eggs were also extremely overcooked, partially burnt as well. When all of this was realized there was not much i could do, because immemorially after our sever gave us the food, he told us he was gonna step out back for some fresh air, and will be back shortly (10 minutes +). By the time the server came back our group was ready to go, me especially. When he brought the bill i complained to him about my poorly cooked meal but he did not seem to concerned. I will never go to this Denny's ever again. If you're looking for a place to eat late at night i'm sure the IHOP nearby would be much better, don't waste your time at this Denny's.
(1)M T.
Incredibly rude waitstaff...our server literally raised his voice at us to hurry up and pick a menu selection. Not cool.
(1)Nicholas L.
This place is great for college students like myself. The prices are very affordable and nothing beats the 2-4-6-8 menu! The service is usually good and when they're slowed down by heavy traffic they still check on the table regularly. Definitely a great place to go for a late night food run too.
(4)Mona M.
Crap served up with a heaping side of contempt. There isn't enough booze in the world.
(1)Chris D.
Good food ...nothing surprising great or bad
(3)Rating You H.
Really bad service, my friend and I went in around 9pm on a Friday, the place was dead and over staffed, all staff was chit chatting the entire time. Drinks and food took FOREVER and to top it off we had an attitude of a waitress that threw stuff on the table as opposed to sat them down. Our food sat on the counter for a while until she pulled herself away from her conversation to get it. Food was cold, drinks didnt get refilled and didn't bother returning to the table at all. We will not be back!!!

When you don't have something in a long time, it tastes good. I haven't been to a Denny's in over 10 years. I went again just a few weeks ago at the one in down town LA for breakfast. It was because there was a line to get into The Original Pantry and I was too impatient and too hungry. It was the right choice. The menu has changed a little but has kept the stand-bys and it's a good fatty breakfast. Nothing special. Service is great, you get seated right away, it's clean, and they have a clean bathroom and your full when you get out. It's simple enough. Nothing fancy. Whatever you want: bacon, eggs, and pancakes, French toast, whatever. It's good enough for you to be content and I was. If you're staying down town or have a big night at The Edison or Standard, hit the Denny's. It is the best breakfast downtown.
(5)LovLeigh L.
Best Denny's we've been to so far. Usually empty just when we need fast service most. The waitstaff are friendly and one guy there who's name I forget was downright pleasant and talkative so it was a really nice experience. If I see him again I will come back and give you his name. Oh! and this place gives THE MOST chicken on their sampler of any Denny's I've been to. #winning
(4)Mike L.
One of the most audacious thing to do is to give a chain place like Denny's a four stars rating. That is exactly what I'm going to do after a late night run at this place with nowhere go at the after hours. Our group of late night revelers could have hit up The Original Pantry Cafe just a block away for that 24 hour anytime meal, but we decided to hit here instead. The reason was obviously for me..... the restrooms was bigger. After our partying adventures ended after the "last call" at a karaoke place, we had to think of a place that opened up at 2am in the morning and have a decent restroom for our *ahem* needs with some privacy. My blank mind kept coming back to this place for some reason. Let's not hate Denny's for what they really are... a suitable 24 hours place that served warm coffee to go along with your hot plate of ever dandy Grand Slam breakfast. These establishments sometimes get the bad rap because of over the top expectations. I don't know too many places that will just let you ordered a piece of pie and let you just sit there for a hour or so. (OK OK, I used to come here to get rid off of the hangovers before I go home). Maybe that is why I had such a fond memories and appreciations for this place. The service isn't that bad either at the late night owl hours in the morning. While people lined up to wait in line for a table for Original Pantry, we got a small booth table without a problem. For a place that opens 24 hours, I really can't complain about what they are serving to us. As long as it's not a bad overcooked place like Hodori, I can live with any club sandwiches they served. Decent food, good service, plenty of parking in front or the garage next door, and two blocks away from the freeway entrance is what a guy needs after the "last call".

This Denny's on Fig Downtown I would not recommend to anyone. Ihop is down the street. I live down the street from this one and wanted to grab some take out. I placed my order when I got there. It took no more than 5 Minutes to get the food brought up. Which was really fast! When I got home I found out why it was. The food had to be from the day before and obviously they could'nt have been bothered to cook some hash browns or put some bacon on the griddle fresh. Extremely disappointed in this Denny's! Its one thing to get messed over in a Drive Though but on a Take Out Order! Really!
(1)Nancy Y.
Yep, I ate at Denny's recently. Sort of on a time crunch so I came here for lunch. Had the steak, 2 eggs and mashed potato w/ gravy. eh, the steak wasn't cooked right - like the pan wasn't hot enough so they had to keep the steak on there for too long on low temperature, resulting in a non-browned but sort of well-done steak, when should be medium rare. Around $12, I would only eat here if there were no other options. Service blah also, the dude put everything on the table, steak sauce, hot sauce and the steak knife on top of the food, I had to wipe the knife handle. Asks me if I need anything else and never came back. I had to wave him down to get more gravy so I just tipped him a buck, that all he deserves. Denny's - no, not recommended, you ready knew that. This place isn't even that cheap, what are they thinking? Open 24/7.
(2)Andrew T.
This place deserves ZERO stars just for the service. Next time someone complains that this Denny's service is racist or stinks because they're (fill-in-the-blank group), it's because the service here is terrible. Went here for breakfast with wifey and it wasn't too crowded. Seated right away. And then...nothing. For what seemed like 10 minutes, no one came by. Then, a guy who barely spoke English and was totally intimidated taking an order in English took our order. Then.....nothing. Eventually, another waiter came by with our OJ and coffee. Then....nothing. Our food did eventually come out and eventually the 2nd waiter refilled our coffee. This Denny's only saving graces are location & hours.

That's right, I'm reviewing Denny's. And that's right, I'm giving it 4 stars. You know what Denny's is. It's your favorite (or most hated) All-American international diner restaurant chain. It's got all your old favorites: The Grand Slams, The Super Birds, and of course the Moons Over My Hammys. It's not amazingly cheap, but it certainly isn't expensive. It's open 24/7, 365 days a year, and in Downtown Los Angeles that's something special. Speaking of Downtown, this Denny's is particularly accessible, it's near the Staples Center, 7th+Fig, and all the other fun stuff in that area including the 7th/Metro Red Line Station. The restaurant itself is quite nice for a Denny's, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows at the storefront allowing for some good people watching as people make their way back to their cars (grrrrr...) from an event at Staples. The interior is done in the Denny's Diner style, meaning it's a bit more "googie" than your typical off-ramp Denny's. One thing that is quite surprising about this Denny's location is the service. Typically when I think of Denny's I think of loooooooooong waits for food and drink. It's just always been part of the Denny's experience I've known since I was a child. Well not at this Denny's. Here the food comes out in just about exactly the right amount of time. It's a nice touch. So if you're in Downtown, it's late, or you're just having a Denny's fix... it's there for you waiting, and it's as good as a Denny's is going to get, so take advantage of it. Try the mini-burgers. Transit access: Metro Red/Purple and Blue lines, Metro Rapid lines 714, 720, 740 and 745, all local lines with numbers 1-99 and their limited-stop counterparts, and all express lines numbered 400-499; all LADOT DASH lines downtown except D and all Commuter Express lines numbered 400-499 and 534; Antelope Valley Transit Authority Line 785; all Foothill Transit 400-series busway express lines, though only 480 runs outside of rush hours; Montebello Municipal Bus Lines 40, 50 and 341/342/343, Orange County Transportation Authority lines 701 and 721; Santa Clarita Transit Line 799; Santa Monica Big Blue Bus Line 10; and Torrance Transit lines 1 and 2.
